The Place Setting was inspired by my deep, passionate love of food. When visiting one of my favorite New York stores, Fishs Eddy in Union Square, I spotted these perfect white plates and right then and there designed the whole piece. When back in the studio I found my favorite foodie quotes and started in on the drawing of the “pages” or in this case the porcelain plates. The hands are also made of porcelain and each has a quote about the most beloved course of the meal, dessert. In this artist book the porcelain hands represent the “page numbers” of each place setting. Each of the four place settings includes a plate with chef and foodie quotes, the hand as the page number, a set of vintage Bakelite flatware, a small French wine glass, and a simple black felt place mat. All of these items fit inside a beautiful re-fitted vintage wooden box. Bon appetit!
