A sterling silver and crystal stepped Art Deco drinks decanter. This stunning piece is a wonderful example of true Art Deco design. Clean and straight lines, stepped details and no elaborate engraving or detailing. The design and the form are seen as strong enough aesthetically to make this piece appealing. What under pins that philosophy and approach is the fact that the piece does not look out of place in a very contemporary setting today. The decanter was made by the highly regarded Goldsmith & Silversmith's Company, still in existence today, and held their place in the upper echelon of the United Kingdom's most luxurious and coveted manufacturers and retailers. The decanter was made in their London workshop in 1937, at the height of the Deco movement, as can be determined by the English assay marks on the neck of the piece. The crystal is beautifully thick, and centers the piece very well. It is easy to decant from, and is very tactile in the hand. The decanter is in exceptional, original condition and would make for an amazing addition to any bar or mantle.
